Fools Gold — The Stone Roses

Cue the nostalgic playlist: Today marks seven years to the day that I arrived in Manchester, England for my time abroad, which was also my first experience in city living and what some people like to call “nightlife.” (I just call it: drinking, dancing, fun.)

Isn’t it amazing how music can awaken the other senses? To me, this song smells so strongly of two-quid Red Bull and vodka; thick cigarette smoke and slippery dance-floor sweat. It’s like a full 10 minutes of crazy olfactory time travel. And I don’t want to kill what has obviously become a pretty earnest moment here, but now that I think about it…this song kind of reeks?

In the best possible way, of course. Sigh. I think I’ll go watch 24 Hour Party People and do a (you know, purely recreational) search for jobs in the U.K.
