It's Raining In Love by Richard Brautigan

how true. the sentiment this poem expresses is absolutely maddening. (click to read the whole thing.)

rach:

My friend Shira sent this to me this weekend. Read the full thing here.

if a girl likes me a lot
and starts getting real nervous
and suddenly begins asking me funny questions
and looks sad if I give the wrong answers
and she says things like,
“Do you think it’s going to rain?”
and I say, “It beats me,”
and she says, “Oh,”
and looks a little sad
at the clear blue California sky,
I think : Thank God, it’s you, baby, this time
instead of me.

A change I really can believe in.

Wow. Here’s how you know you’ve definitely woken up in a different, and newly energized, nation: When the construction workers at 4th and Carroll trade their gratuitous morning whistles and body-part inspired comments for high five attempts and cheers of “Obama!” and “Yes we did!” After two years of crass consistency, can this be for real? Pinching myself right now.

“A lot of politicians make good speeches, but when they’re in the spotlight, they tend to swell. What Barack Obama does is reflect that light that the people have shined on him back on the people…He returns the power to the people. This very election would transform our sense of what is possible.” —this, from Bill Bradley back in January, is still one of my favorite articulations of Obama’s skill and power as an orator. It’s also a nice, gentle reminder that we’re at the start, not the finish, this morning. Obama has given us optimism; now let’s give him the gift of patience and shared responsibility. There’s lots of cleaning up to do.

Dear Gabby (Spinto Remix)—The Eames Era/The Spinto Band

A while ago, Kerry and I asked our pal Nick to remix this song for a few other friends in The Eames Era. I just realized I never shared it, so enjoy. (Coming soon: a new project from a couple of the very talented men of The Eames Era!)
